THE STORY OF ANETOURS
There are companies that mark their history by the determination and resilience with which everyone is committed to day-to-day tasks. ANETOURS, founded in 1995 by António Oliveira and his wife, Elisabete Oliveira, is a living example of an excellent work developed over the years.
With a consolidated history as a colorless taxi industry, a transport service they provided to hotels, airline crews and large companies in the region, ANETOURS – AGENCIA DE VIAGENS E TURISMO LDA. arises in the aftermath of the Ibero-American Summit. António Oliveira soon realized that a company transporting passengers in luxury sedans and vans would be – and is – an excellent response to the significant increase in tourist demand in Porto.
From the very beginning, ANETOURS sought to be a reference company and to provide dedicated and high quality services. The focus on training drivers, with the certification of Tourism Drivers in the newly created Course at the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Porto, made ANETOURS a company with a solid structure and a well-defined growth strategy. It didn't take many years to create a network of tours in Porto as well as in places of tourist interest throughout the North region such as Braga, Guimarães, Douro, Coimbra and Aveiro.
In 2002, Mariana Oliveira, the daughter of António and Elisabete Oliveira, and current Manager of the company, joined the team, bringing to ANETOURS all the know-how of the Management and Marketing course and reinforcing the knowledge acquired in the Hotel industry. It is from her that the initiative for the creation of a Travel department and a Commercial department starts, where strategic partnerships are developed daily with various tour operators, thus attracting large and renowned customers. This bet on a more organized structure allowed ANETOURS to conquer, until today, a prominent position in the sector.
Currently, the company has 45 employees, divided into four major services: travel agency; passenger transport with light and heavy fleet; occasional rental [specialized regular service, collective transport of children and transfers]; and private tour operator.
Over the last few years, ANETOURS has guaranteed collaboration in events such as Euro 2004, the reception of Pope Francis in 2017, the Champions League final with a mega operation and various state protocols and ministerial visits such as the Ibero-American Summit and most recently the Porto Social Summit.
With the increase in collaborations becoming more and more a reality, ANETOURS also invested in its car fleet, which today comprises buses with 55, 39 and 34 seats; minibus with 25 and 19 seats and several cars such as Mercedes E and S Class, Mercedes Vito and V Class and Mercedes Sprinter.
For the future, ANETOURS wants the consolidation of the Anetours Academy to extend the continuous training of its drivers, invest in an internationalization process and apply the digital transformation that it has been targeting for a year so that, even at a time when tourism going through one of its most troubled periods due to the pandemic caused by Covid 19, success continues to be part of its path.
